I have written a perl module that does the same thing as PHP's serialize() and unserialize()
commands so that Perl can now serialize and unserialize data in the same format as PHP.
It's quite handy for storing information in databases or files (or anywhere, really) that both
PHP and Perl scripts need to read from and write to.
It supports string, double, integer, and array types (no object or reference support).
It's free code, too. :)
