Has anyone considered trying to implement a progress bar for file uploads? I see it is doable in
ASP, but it seems to require custom components.
My thought was that if you could specify the temp file name ahead of time and put it in a hidden
form element, it's size could be monitored by a auto refreshing popup window.
The problem with this approach (if possible) is that finding the total file size might be a problem
in Javascript.
My next thought was if there was (or are plans for) a way to do processing at the start of the
server receiving the post, this problem might be avoided.
As a third alternative, is there a way to put the process ID or something like that in a hidden form
element, then have the pop up script monitor memory/disk usage etc. of the parent script?
Any other ideas? Thanks!
