Take care of setlocale use. I did some benchmarks and I found that setlocale() alone is as slow as
the rest of the script without the setlocale function; the benchmarks where done on this page:

And some numbers:
setlocale execution time: 0.6secs
rest of the php script execution time: 0.6secs
Don't know why is this happening.
