The example source has "#if COMPILE_DL_FIRST_MODULE", while the example compilation
commands have "-DCOMPILE_DL=1".
Those constants should be the same for everything to work properly; i.e., I'd suggest using
"-DCOMPILE_DL_FIRST_MODULE=1" in the compile command.
