Your function for 4b4 is useful to me, although I use PHP 4.1.1. For some twisted reason, the
built-in readline() function prints the text which is given.

I don't know if it does the same thing when just calling the script in a shell, but it does it
through xinetd, at least.
Figured this might help people who are trying to create a xinetd-script in PHP. :)
