Don't use RPMs for PHP or Apache. You'll get better performance if you compile them
yourself, because you can specify compiler optimization flags. Of course, if you are running all
this on a 386, it already is optimized, but most of us adults use Pentium-and-above. :)
When you compile PHP, you have to specify --with-snmp in the ./configure stage. Otherwise you get no
support for it.
The closest thing I've seen by way of packaging is in Debian, where you can do 'apt-get
install php4-cgi-snmp'. That will install a loadable snmp.o module where php4 can pick it up,
and put a directive in php4.ini that tells it to load the module. However, CGI modules are slow, and
so are DSO modules, so - again - compile PHP4 and Apache yourself, and for God's sake, build
PHP4 static!
