I accidentally came across an easy way to insert the date into a field automatically using the date
function (I was initially going to do it with javascript)
<input type="text" name="date" value="<? echo date("m/d/Y",
$ANYVALUE) ?>">
It is great because while using the form to either edit or enter a new record I can replace
$ANYVALUE with the date I'm going to be editing (if that makes sense...)
