It does not appear possible to rely on the include_dir directive in PHP 4.2.3 under IIS/Windows 2000
except by setting it to an absolute path; neither "/." (as suggested by the previous
comment) nor "." has any effect (nor does "\", "\." or any other
similar combination), and if the value is not set, PHP attempts to use "c:\php4\pear",
even if this directory doesn't exist (this value appears to be hard-coded into php4ts.dll).
This can also be overridden by prefixing (relative) paths used in include*()/require*() function
calls with ".", e.g.
require_once("./includes/include.php");
This drove me crazy for several hours after I first upgraded. I realise that this may not be an
entirely satisfactory solution; hopefully this issue will be fixed in the next release.
