While Textpad has convenient syntax highlighting for PHP (as well as for many other markup and
scripting languages), it has the same windows disease as textpad - when saving your .php, a .txt
suffix is invariably appended with later Win OS/s. Homesite does not suffer from this, and since it
has greater support for rapid prototyping, creating and validating HTML (if you use a lot of
embedded PHP), is probably the best choice (especially if you download the PHP syntax support). If
you love Textpad, however, then save your file in homesite (blank), then write into it by opening in
Textpad and using the file-save command (not save-as). Note that fully functional shareware versions
of these products are both available.
