I installed Apache 1.3 and PHP 4 under Windows XP recently and decided to follow the manual
approach. Apache was ok, but PHP didn't work and I went nuts cheking and doing the procedure
again and again. I was testing using the following line:
<? phpinfo() ?>
After several hours of frustration, and seeing that the configuration was ok and all the files were
where they are supposed to be I dediced to change the testing file to:
<html>
<body>
<? phpinfo() ?>
</body>
</html>
And it worked!!! Then after this, everything worked, even the single line <? phpinfo() ?>.
