thx phippsj,
with so many posts on this subject, everything authors come up with is: "use the path parameter
and make it '/' " but nobody gives a reason. The path paramater is optional indeed
but the cookie is set with path-info about where it was created.
I created a cookie in mydomain/login/login.php and tried to read it in mydomain/index.php and that
really does not work if you do not use e.g. path='/'.
b.t.w. I do not know php.net procedures but is it not time that the manual is updated by some php
experts on basis of all the info above . . would save a lot of reading.
(Sorry, I am a newbie but spent a lot of time trying to find the essentials here).
Benny.
