I've been using the following to get around register_globals being off until I can rewrite
everything.
Put this at the top level of your scripts, outside any functions.
if (ini_get('register_globals') != 1) {
$supers = array('_REQUEST','_ENV','_SERVER');
foreach ($supers as $__s) {
if (is_array($$__s) == true) extract($$__s, EXTR_OVERWRITE);
}
unset($supers);
}
