Here's a simple way to convert the number of a month into the name of the month.
1 will give January
2 will give February
...
12 will give December
$month_number = 3;
$month_name = date ("F", mktime (0,0,0,$month_number,1,2000));
echo "Month number $month_number is called $month_name";
// will print out March
