To check for GD support, you can do something like:
if(function_exists('imagetypes'))
echo 'GD is loaded';
else
echo 'GD is not loaded';
Note that many of the other functions listed here are defined regardless of wether GD is loaded or
not. imagetypes() seems to be a safe one to check for now.
