jan at aagaard dot net: Late, but here's an answer: The netscape protocol asks for three
periods in domains other than the 7 domains .com, .net etc because the other domains are administred
by countries that are encouraged to use second level domains like .co.uk or .pro.br.
If this rule would not be enforced, a page like bigbrotherseesyou.co.uk could set a cookie for
.co.uk and every domain *.co.uk could read this cookie and track you around.
The rule is bad for yahoo.dk, but this is one of the reasons that yahoo has changed their urls to
things like dk.my.yahoo.com
