I wasn't able to stop (kill) the httpd or httpsd daemons with
/etc/rc.d/init.d/http(s)d stop
I discovered that the 'ps' command core dumps on me if LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libpthread.so
is defined. My solution was to only define it in the "start" portion of my init script.
(ps is used in the "stop" portion of the init script (see killproc); and won't kill
my httpd or httpsd daemons if LD_PRELOAD is defined.)
This is just a workaround until I find out why ps dumps with LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libpthread.so
defined.
