Actually I had a problem where I used $_COOKIE in a mysql query, and it failed the first time
visitors entered the site due to the reload issue with setcookie.
Solution?:
if (!isset($_COOKIE['cookiename'])) { $_COOKIE['cookiename'] = VALUE; }
