Using MULTIPLE INSTANCE of MSSQL 2000
1. Windows environment
it's simple.
You can connect the database as many other people do.
$cnx = mssql_connect("hostname\\INSTANCE_NAME", "id", "pwd");
2. Linux or FreeBSD environment
it's not simple...
You cannot connect the database as described above.
FreeTDS does not understand the form like "hostname\\instancename", so above code will
make error.
Because multiple instance use dynamic port other than default port 1433, you have to specify the
port number which is assigned for the instance.
$cnx = mssql_connect("hostname:portno", "id", "pwd");
( portno ; port number which is assigned for the instance in MSSQL 2k. )
But, problems occur in finding the right port number for instance because of dynamic assignment of
port number. ... and... i don't know how can I find the number using protocol over 139/445. --;
Is there anybody help me?
