I've noticed that calling readfile() with an "http://"
filename breaks output buffering (eg, gzip compression) in PHP 4.0.3pl1 - the result is that
headers_sent() returns true.
A workaround is to use fopen/fgets/fclose instead, which works fine with output buffering.
