4.12 Windows / IIS hint:
The windows binary distribution at 4.12 has a setting that disables direct access of the CGI
executable. On trying to load a page, you get the following error:
Security Alert! PHP CGI cannot be accessed directly.
The note specifies that you can safely set cgi.force_redirect=0 in php.ini, but does not tell you
where to do this.
Simply put the line
cgi.force_redirect=0
at the top of the PHP.ini file (I put it on line 3), and it works.
