Using @ is always bad but with include it goes dramatically worse. @include supress ANY error
messages from included file, even parse errors. So, you gonna spend hours to locate your bug.
I hope simple is_readable() checking is enough to handle possible errors except parse ones. But, if
there is error, you have to see it, don't hide! hide from who? From end user? turn
display_errors off and log_errors on. From yourself? You kidding?
