When I used this program (I saved it as testconnect.php):

$link = mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', '0000')
or die("Could not connect: " . mysql_error());
print ("Connected successfully");
mysql_close($link);
?>
then it displayed following error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /home/Mary/public_html/testconnect.php
on line 2
Can anybody tell me why?
I used PHP version 4.1.2 in RetHat
