I think PHP is a bit better than classic ASP, but cannot stand against ASP.NET at all.
First, if you want to add some untrivial features to PHP, you're always forced to recompile it.
ASP.NET is just more integrated with the .NET Framework, its pages can use all its possibilities and
even Win32 API. And COM of course.
Also, PHP is an interpreter, therefore all PHP scripts should come with source code. If you want to
hide some of your ASP.NET application code, you can just compile it into a DLL with no need to
rewrite any code at all, and you can easily redistribute it with no need to register it (like in
COM).
Can't say anything about performance... but even text pages are compiled, not interpreted, so I
think ASP.NET is better at this area...
and so on, there are much more features, major and minor. It's not an advertisement... I still
continue to use PHP, because it's way simplier... but ASP.NET is way more attractive.
