I just found out, after much trial and error, on WinNT, PHP 4.2.3, that you must specify a
particular part of the $_FILES info on uploaded images for this function to work.
For instance, if you have the form input:
<INPUT name="image" type="file">
And you want to run:
$img_sz = getimagesize( $image );
And you have globals off, you must call it like this:
$img_sz = getimagesize( $_FILES['image']['tmp_name'] );
Or something similar... Hope this helps someone.
