Note that the square bracket syntax is deprecated as of PHP 4, and that curly braces are preferred.
(Maybe this is a precursor to proper Unicode characters?)
$myLength = strlen( $s );
for ( $i = 0; $i < myLength; ++$i )
{ $ch = $s{ $i };
...
}
