Due to request: Description of a workaround for the ftp overwrite anomaly that I have described
above:
I use a shell script to delete the file first, then I can use fopen to create it again and write to
it. This is the script:
##############################################
# Script deletes file on remote ftp server
# Usage:
# dele <server> <user> <password> <remotefile>
ftp -n -v << EOF
open $1
user $2 $3
dele $4
bye
EOF
