to add to that note, you can also use 0.0.0.0
ie:
if (!socket_bind($socket, "0.0.0.0", PORT)) {
socket_close($socket);
die("Sock_Error: Socket was unable to bind.\n");
}
where port is defined above, define('PORT', 6667);
