If you set a boolean directive in .htaccess with php_value rather than php_flag, such as... php_value magic_quotes_gpc Off ini_get will not convert this to a [blank] as indicated in the ini_get documenation. This can bite you if you have logic that says "if (ini_get('magic_quotes_gpc')) ..." because ini_get will return "Off" that evaluates to TRUE. You can work around this by setting.... php_value magic_quotes_gpc 1 However, the best solution is to use php_flag when setting boolean directives so you always get consistent results whether options are set from .htacess or php.ini
