If you are installing php over an older version and you get the following error when trying to start apache: Syntax error on line ... API module structure 'php4_module' in file ... libphp4.so is garbled - perhaps this is not an Apache module DSO? Try using the following before compiling PHP: cmd> make clean cmd> make distclean This will remove anything pointing to the old PHP version.
