Fix for 'can't load libmysqlclient.so' message is slightly different on FreeBSD
(ld.so.conf file in above fix is Linux-specific). You must add ldconfig_paths="PATH" to
the /etc/rc.conf file (e.g. ldconfig_paths="/usr/local/lib/mysql")
Since /etc/rc.conf overrides /etc/defaults/rc.conf, you may want to copy entire ldconfig_path line
from /etc/defaults/rc.conf, add it to /etc/rc.conf, and then add your path.
(e.g. ldconfig_paths="/usr/lib/compat /usr/local/lib /usr/local/lib/mysql")
