OK, this is what PHP did for me:
I am a web designer since 95 (long 5 years already) and the last two of them on a very professional
level.
but, I was always designing, html coding and apache maintaining....
It once happened to me that my old CGI mail form didn't work properly and I started to look for
something else...
I **found out** that PHP3 was installed on my mascine... Kewl I said, let's see what PHP is...
I downloaded a script as a **zip file** that was supposed to be a form mail program..
I Unzipped it and, what I saw:
<?PHP mail($email, $subject, $message);?>
What the HECK is that ?
ONE SINGLE LINE?
No, IT CAN'T be ... (It took long time for me to realize WHY the author even zipped it)
The small comment under mail()says: "Send you data via GET or POST to this file and make sure
that the variables sent are named same from here.."
It just was too easy...
so I went here, PHP.NET and read about mail(), then about strings, then about arrays, then ....
Now there are still few websites in my internet media company (200 employees) still untouched by me
and *my* PHP.
conclusion: PHP changed my way of making websites: while I'm still a web developer.. it is just
TOO EASY to learn...
That's the power..
Oh Yeah... then were classes, then mysql, then loops.....
