I just noticed, that when opening a directory containing a link to the directory above
(".."), $dir->path returns the directory as opened, not parsed in any way, e.g.:
$d = dir("/way/to/go/..");
echo ($d->path);
returns "/way/to/go/.." not "/way/to".
