Be careful with these functions, at least under older versions of PHP (3.0*). It appears that there is a bug in the dbm code which causes an infinite loop if it encounters null fields at the wrong spot (still trying to nail it down). Depsite supposed safeguards in PHP we were experiencing Apache processes using up all available RAM and moving on to the swap due to something in the get_record call triggered by garbage in the DBF file. http://www.php.net/manual/function.dbase-get-record-with-names.php
