I was able to create a cgi version to use on the command line of my RedHat Linux 6.2 system by
configuring php 4.0.2 via:
./configure --enable-track-vars \
--with-pgsql=/var/lib/pgsql \
--enable-force-cgi-redirect
But then entering the word "make" first restarted my X Windows (so be careful to 1st save
everything). Retrying "make" returned many screenfuls of output w/no errors untilt the
very end, when I got:
"/usr/include/pgsql/config.h:540: os.h: No such file or directory." os.h was a pointer to
a non-existant dir and file, so i created them (via mkdir and touch).
"make" and "make install" then worked, no errors, and i had a /usr/local/bin/php
executable! It is usable on the command line via "php -q helloworld.php".
