the validation functions above that use getmxrr won't work on hosts like boas.anthro.mnsu.edu
because it has no MX record, which is correct and quite common -- it can still receive mail no
problem.
You could do a:
checkdnsrr($host, "ANY")
to check for A, CNAME, MX, etc. DNS records.
