When you encode 2 consecutive special chars together, the behaviour is not totally ok. E.g.: $text = 'aquí';//NOTE THE í< part $textshow = utf8_encode($text); echo $textshow; //it outputs aqu&iacute/a> //when it should be aquí ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.utf8-encode.php Edit Note -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+33618 Delete Note -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+33618&report=yes Reject Note -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+33618&report=yes
