It can save you some time ià you want to use Oracle 9i with PHP 4.3.2 on Linux RedHat 9:
Installation process of Oracle 9i on Red Hat 9 is well described on
http://www.puschitz.com/OracleOnLinux.shtml
In general, you need just minimum installation (Custom: Oracle 9i client, OCI). This set will not
have even 'tnsping'. I installed 'SQL*Plus'. It can be used as beefed-up version
of tnsping ;o) and will be useful in case of some need to run SQL-scripts.
Next step is to prepare Oracle installation for PHP compilation:
ln -s $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/public/nzerror.h $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/demo/nzerror.h
ln -s $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/public/nzt.h $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/demo/nzt.h
ln -s $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/public/ociextp.h $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/demo/ociextp.h
After this, if you have proper enviroment ./configure --with-oci8 will be enough.
Good luck,
Boris
