If you already have Apache+PHP installed in RH8 or RH9 and would just like to upgrade your PHP version, you will need to download the latest version of PHP source and the apache devel. The latest version of Apache devel at this point was 2.0.40 and was available at the url: http://www.redhat.com/swr/i386/httpd-devel-2.0.40-21.3.i386_dl.html Install this rpm (rpm -ivh httpd-devel-2.0.40-21.3.i386.rpm) You might want to upgrade your apache too (optional). Untar the php distribution and change your directory to the source. Run the command ./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs2filter=/usr/sbin/apxs make make install That should work fine!
