Not often do I agree with rants, but in this case I'm glad to make an exception. The thing
above is indeed not at all a parser and there is very little evidence to call it a statemachine
even. The only state it keeps is the level in which the XML tags are declared.
Functionality such as this as part of a large library makes it difficult for developers to take PHP
seriously. XML is supposed to take away the datacomplexity of the program and put it in a structured
document which can be communicated easily. The solution here actually adds to the data complexity.
There are alot of reasons to make this functionality at least deprecated and replace it with a real
XML parser.
