----
Situation:
A Network with InternetIp 254.123.123.123
A computer on the network 192.168.1.23 (a local ip)
Script:
$REMOTE_ADDR = 254.123.123.123 (This is correct)
When i run the same script on a secure site (https)
$REMOTE_ADDR = 192.168.1.23 (Useless)
While ip logging is much more interesting for your secure site.
Logging localips doesn't make any sence.
Did do PHPinfo on the https but there is not any env that shows 254.123.123.123
