note 34387 added to function.mcrypt-generic-init

I get warning messages: mcrypt_generic_init(): Memory allocation error and then a string of : mcrypt_generic(): 15 is not a valid MCrypt resource mcrypt_generic_deinit(): 15 is not a valid MCrypt resource ... warnings when I run the DEMO code shown for mcrypt_module_open(). This occurs at virtual hosted site at my ISP who runs Apache Module Version 4.3.2 May 29, 2003 with mcrypt enabled. 2.4.x Are there rights, permissions, ini values that need to be set, or is there a way I can go about debugging this problem?
