note that the echo <<<END syntax doesnt like having array values given to it, eg:
$arr['var']. You need to either define your variables before-hand ($var =
$arr['var']) or use barewords ($arr[var]). The former adds clutter, the latter is
considered bad practice. Unfortunatly the latter is often the most readable solution, so don't
be surprised if you find nothing but bareword-style array values in any code you inheiret. I would
consider this a bug, but I'm pretty sure it's intentional.
