Your milage may vary.....
Compile and install latest OpenSSL.
Compile imap-2002d with SSL.
cd imap-2002d/c-client
ln -s . lib
ln -s . include
In your PHP config add:
--with-imap=/usr/local/src/imap-2002d/c-client \
--with-imap-ssl=/usr/local/ssl \
I havn't had a problem with any new imap distribution.
