Hi All,
I agree PHP is good.. but i will not say that it is better then ASP from all angles... IT IS NOT!
If you done any windows programming then you'd know that real power of ASP is in COM. Basically
any OS resource is there for you if know how to use it. if not directly from script then just write
COM component (using VB/C++) and use it from script. Talking about database interactions, then you
have ADO and it is really powerfull technology. xml/dom support through msxml parser is excellent.
you also get XMLHTTPserver to do server to server communications. saying that to do simple stuff it
requires many lines of code, means that you never done any coding in asp/vbscript. btw, vbscript can
do classes and have regexp support as well. anyways, i can go on for a long time. all i wanted to
say that if you are a win programmer and develop mainly for iis then asp is the way to go, if you do
stuff for other platforms / webserver then php is the best choice.
Cheers
