I am just a novice computer user, but every tutorial I've come across always says that the
absolute value is just to give a pos. number or zero. If you are a technical computer geek (like
me), then you might be interested to know that in math abs is the undirected distance from zero. No
matter how much ahead, or how much behind. Think of the numbers 7 and -7. 7 is 7 units ahead of
zero, and -7 is 7 units behind zero. Therefore, the abs of these two numbers is 7. Also there is
zero. Zero is 0 units from zero, so the abs of zero is zero.
Just a thought,
Joe :)
