----
HTTP_GET_VARS or HTTP_POST_VARS transport the values between the pages, but in the arrival page
through their associative values are created new variables with as name the HTTP... key and as value
the HTTP...[$key] value.
Then you can modify the HTTP... values without variable modifying.
Example:
<?
unset($HTTP_GET_VARS["foo"]); // try to comment this line
print "<br>";
print $foo;
print "<br>";
print $HTTP_GET_VARS["foo"];
print "<br>";
$foo = 4;
?>
<a href=a.php?foo=<?print $foo;?>>link</a>
