This function dosn't work as expected (e.g. will return 0 every time). The result of a thread
was, that oracle has no such function built in.

But for web applicatin programming you need this.

A good supplement is to use COUNT(*):
<PRE>
If your query is:
SELECT * FROM hugo WHERE bla='schlonz'
then the number of rows is
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM hugo WHERE bla='schlonz'
</PRE>
