Forgot to tell that I tried it on php 4.0.6 for win32 - maybe it's different on *nix and what I
really meant (in case someone didn't understand) was that extension isn't empty if the
last directory in path has a dot in the name - remember to use is_dir() on path to check the
output..
and yes, I know that I shouldn't use php for win, but I'm building a php-gui for windows
media 8 encoder :o)
