This interlacing is 'progressive JPEG' and will build-up the image 'line by line', in stead of downloading the whole file first and show it when ready. The rendering (mentioned below) is only useg for interlaced GIF images and will indeed first show a lo-res image and goes to hi-res in multiple fases (depeding on the image size and download speed). - Imageinterlace($im, 0) creates a JPG which is build up on the screen - Imageinterlace($im, 1) creates a JPG which is first loaded completely before showing anything --was-- This interlacing is 'progressive JPEG' and will build-up the image 'line by line', in stead of downloading the whole file first and show it when ready.
