Here you can find some tips about installing PHP in Os X versions different than the server one:
http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/
and some help through this forum: http://www.macphp.net/phorum
You can test if it worked with a test phpinfo file you can copy to "Web" folder under any
"User" account and through this url in your browser: "http://127.0.0.1/~username/" (remove "
")
If it doesn't works, you will need to edit the httpd.conf hidden file located in:
"/etc/httpd/" you can do this with TextEdit app ->Open and in "GoTo field"
type: "/etc/httpd/" this way you will be able to see that hidden file and edit it.
Locate:
#LoadModule php4_module libexec/httpd/libphp4.so
and remove the "#" character to enable the module, then locate:
# And for PHP 4.x, use:
#
#AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml
#AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
and remove the # from this last 2 #AddTypes to activate them.
Save changes. (In case you need to restore the original httpd.conf file there is a backup called
"httpd.conf.default", make a copy of this one and rename it.
Finally, you will need to go to Preferences -> Share (Compartir) and turn off and turn on again
Share Web (Compartir Web) in order to let Apache load the new configuration with php installed.
Sorry about my poor English but I hope you find this helpful to run php under Mac Os X
